nagios check_fping

can anyone help out with the check command for fping. i have ping up and running fine but cant get fping up and running. its always in a warning state. i know the command itself works, /usr/local/nagios/libexec/check_fping so i believe it is with the checkcommand itself.

I am having the same problem and it's driving me crazy. I've checked the checkcommands.cfg fiel and it seems to be fine. If i enter the exact command and arguments at the command line it comes back ok yet Nagios reports it as a warning.

Has anyone come up with a solution for this yet?

At last a solution!

In order for it to report correctly you need to locate the fping file and setuid to root.

go to the directory that contains fping and do a chmod +s fping

rwsr-sr-x 1 root root 22948 Jul 20 09:03 fping

Now it reports correctly
