my modem doesn't works..


this is my modem specification:

I downloaded a free version (one thats limited to 14.4 Kbps) from a site but still them modem doesn't works. i can connect to my isp but nothing opens up. i can't even open the google page. i think its a routing problem and i deleted my default gateway which was set to 192.168.1.24 but that doesn't solves my problem. i am sending and recieiving bytes but nothing opens up..please help..

Which distro are you using (why does nobody put this in their profile anymore...? sigh...) and what is the output of ifconfig when you're connected to your ISP ?

let my guess...
u are using fedora.
Anyway
try
ping 216.239.59.99
and then try
ping www.google.com

if the first works and the second replies with unknown host or something like that, it's probably a DNS problem. Read my post in http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=254257
