my goal w/ DNS in slackware

i own a domain and i am currently hosting my own site on my slackware box w/ apache, php, perl, ftp, ssh, ircd, etc but ive had to rely on a free site dyndns.org for something like host.ath.cx i was wondering if anyone on here would be willing to point me in the right direction to setting up a dns server so i can actually use mydomain.com as my boxname and i can point anything.mydomain.com to any ip or directory i want, etc, i want total control over my domain without having to screw with redirection.net's web forwarding shit or rely on dyndns.org (although its a good service).
thanks

Since Whois only gets updated every 24 hours or so, having a DNS server on a Dynamic IP doesn't always work out, neither really do zone records with 0 cache time as a lot of DNS servers out their don't properly follow the RFC. You could just treat your IP as static, set up dhcpcd with the arguments for long lease time requests, etc... or do you have one of those ISPs that actually cuts leases down to something like a day or so?

Cheers,
