Multiple names for a single ip address

Is it possible to "alias" a domain name to a single ip address so a server would respond to xxx.com or yyy.com.

The reverse is easy multiple ip addresses per card; hopefully this is too!

Of course. You can have any number of different domain names pointed at the same IP.

Peace,

CNAME is one method on the DNS side.. http://www.zytrax.com/books/dns/ch8/cname.html

or are you asking about the apache name-based virtual hosts ? http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/vhosts/name-based.html

hi,

123.abc.com is CNAME for 345.abc.com,
but
123.abc.com will be another A (host) record in 345.def.com

just like farslayer said that names will work differently in name-based virtual server.

HTH.
