Okay, sorry if this is a stupid question, but for some reason I am apparently not smart enough to figure this out. I installed openSuSE 12.2 on a couple servers. I am trying to xterm from one to run an application on another. I use the command "ssh -X 172.16.0.1" and log into the remote machine. I then issue a command like "yast2&" and YaST GUI comes up.
Okay at this point you may say, well if it is working what is the problem? Well, if I click on something within the YaST windows like "Software Management", The terminal reflects the following error and the Software Management window does not appear.
"xdg-su: no graphical method available for invoking '/sbin/yast2 sw_single' as 'root'"
I am sure it is something that I am overlooking. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you for taking time to respond. Yes, I am executing yast as 'root'. I also understand that it is available in test, which is what I have been doing. These units are going to be deployed at a colocation and remote administration is a must. I am hoping to be able to xterm into them for that purpose. Yast was just an example to communicate what I am sseing.
For me it’s working being it text based or with GUI, but my local machine is a Mac from where I start it. I found this bug report. You have all the latest patches?
