Moving windows based computers into my Red hat 9 domain

I created a domain on my RH 9 machine but I am having trouble getting my windows based computers to join it.
itt keeps telling me logon failure:unknown user name or bad password
but I am using root to move this computer into the domain
I have created other users and none of them work
Windows is seeing the server fine in my network places

what should I check to correct this problem

I think that you need to use the Samba username 'Administrator', which is mapped to the Linux account 'root'.

For a Linux account to access Samba it needs to have a Samba password set with the 'smbpasswd' utility, e.g.

(as root)

smbpasswd -a mylinuxaccount
