moving NIS server from Solaris to RH9

Hi,

I am a newbie to Linux servers.

I have a Solaris8 x86 NIS server which is successfuly dealing with Solaris7, Solaris8, Solaris8 x86, RH8 and RH9 workstations. Now,
I want to move it to RH9. For starter I got me a new switch and moved three computers into a new network. I created the required files, started the ypserv and it only partialy works. The passwd database is OK, shadow database is not created with/without the merge flag in the Makefile, automounter loads only the files listed in /etc/auto.home and ignores NIS entries which are correcty displayed with 'ypcat yuto.home'.

The result of all this is: I can login a user only if I disable shadow passwords and then the login is refused because the automounterr fails to mount the requested NFS filesystem (unless I enter the filesystem into client's /etc/auto.home file)

Regards
Andrej
