I think I got this error, a day...
NFS and Portmap are worst protocols ever, so they open "unassigned" ports to communicate (juste like FTP in active mode). Worst, these port are usually below 1024 so it blocked by most firewall.
Just scan your local NFSD erver and make sure that people can access open ports around 700-800 (where that stupid protocol usually open something).
