Mount CDROM over network via NFS/SMB?

Hello,

Im wondering if it is possible to mount a cdrom for use with a cd burner in linux - but the cdburner be across a network..

Kind of like the way you can mount a printer across SMB and have it viewed as a real printer.

I know it can be mounted across a network such as SMB to read files - but I want to setup a cd burner software on my laptop - then allow the burner software to "see" a cdrw drive from my server in another room across the network - so I can burn cds directly from the laptop.

Is this possible?

Steve

Is the CD writer on a linux PC or a windows PC? In an indirect way it is possible.

For linux, A web application called WebCDwriter is a good solution for what you want. Just search the web for the URL. You still actually upload the files to the PC with the burner and us cdrecord to do the burning.

I don't know anything in windows except for packet writing i.e DirectCD but then the CD isn't iso9660 compatable.
