Question motorola sb4200 surfboard USB cable modem

I just recently purchased high speed internet and installed the Motorola Surfboard drivers on my XP partition. It works really well, but I want the same on my RH9 partition. The problem is, the drivers on the the disc with the Motorola drivers on it is only compatible with windows.

Is there any way that I can Install the drivers for RH9? Can I pull them off the disk somehow? Do I even need the drivers or is there another way to set up my high speed internet?

Try http://linuxberg.telenet.be/

If you are using the ethernet connection and not usb, you don't need to download any drivers. Linux--especially redhat--should recognize it automatically.

I thought surfboard modems were both ethernet and usb. I've heard nothing but horror stories about people trying to get usb modems to work right. If you don't have an ethernet card, it might be easier to spend $8 to get one and install it yourself.

you might be right, but if I can get it to work that would be great too. I'll look into it. One of the reasons that I got the USB was that I did not have an ethernet card.

Exclamation

How come this USB compatibility thing? I've just switched to Linux using Xubuntu 6.10 and have this same modem and it's ethernet port is taken so I have to use the USB. I find it strange that I can't find a way to do this!
