modprob 3c509 then wt?


i typed modprob 3c509 it said module...some thing ,also told me the path of the module
the module is like 3c509.o
wt next to do??
i tried to configure it using ifconfig ..but cannot msg is device busy or not found??
ya its 3c509b

wt will insmod 3c509.o and modprob 3c509,o will do???pls tell me their working

You should run
modprobe 3c509
Then
ifconfig eth0 youriphere

Please copy your error messages if you get any.

modprobe lists loaded modules
insmod loads module

Not exactly. Modprobe loads a module with dependencies (if the module requires other one, both are loaded), insmod loads only the one module (among other things). Modprobe is an interface to insmod, in fact. When you want to load a module, use modprobe.
