mitm?

my local network runs on 192.168.1.x gigset adsl router allowed to issue dhcp addresses 192.168.1.64 - 192.168.1.67

i have 3 hosts connected for pen practice.

ran an nmap scan looking for hosts, it showed the 3 i have plus the router at 192.168.1.254

ran another nmap scan -- sorry, syntax was a bastardization of knmap options partially copied into terminal and was lost when terminal exited-- and found only 1 host -- at 192.168.1.46

so i run a ping against that address, but it resolves to other addresses during the ping. on other examples it resolved to 192.168.1.254

b@b-laptop:~$ sudo ping -A 192.168.1.46
PING 192.168.1.46 (192.168.1.46) 56(84) bytes of data.
From 192.168.1.64 icmp_seq=1 Destination Host Unreachable
From 192.168.1.64 icmp_seq=2 Destination Host Unreachable
From 192.168.1.64 icmp_seq=3 Destination Host Unreachable

what would cause this?
