Mint17 Dell wireless 1450 not working
Just upgraded to Mint 17 from 15, all worked well there. I wrote down all the info I needed for the wireless connection. It doesnt work on 17. lsusb lists the Dell 1450. I installed the firmware b43 installer. dmesg for p54 says "registered new interface driver p54usb". When I do a modprob for p54 it is not found. Does anyone have any idea of what ive missed or done wrong. Appreciate help before I trip over the lan cable and break my toes
.
Forgot to mention that I have a dual boot with XP and it works fine there.

Are there any drivers for your wireless in the Driver Manager, Menu > Control Center > Driver Manager? You might miss some driver.

I am afeared to ask for a lsusb -v report because it is even bigger than a inxi report.
How about a
Code:
sudo dmesg | grep firmware
instead? You need the wireless usb plugged in with a fresh boot up to run the above command.
also
will help your cause also. mintwifi showed no wirless at all in its report.

Well, usually Mint supplies nonfree stuff in it's isos.
Did you md5sum check your iso before burning and installing?
only other thing I can think of is
Code:
sudo apt-get install linux-firmware-nonfree
and then reboot.

It look like the wireless 1450 driver, p54, isn't installed. You might isntall it manully, from apt-get or CD.

Thanks enormously. The dmesg for firmware did it. There was an error at installation. Works great now. By the way adding the -c 0 to inxi produces a monochome output which is much better to redirect. Thank you again for all the work you put into it.
