Measuring Network Traffic
Dear Friend ,
Suppose i have a linux Server where two differnt network is connected through my Server .
One Network is Lan_A(192.168.10.0) and another is Lan_B(192.168.20.0) . Each network has three pc .And Every user of network Lan_A can transfer data from Lan_B network . Now as a system Admin ,I want a condition so that a user of Lan_A cannot transfer data from Lan_B not higher than 5 kbps .
i.e, I want to make a restriction so that every user can transfer data not higher than 5kbps speed .
normally we use Bandwidth management tools like CBQ for controlling Internet Speed . Now we have
two questions :
1) Is it possible to control this data transfer speed using CBQ ?
2) If Lan_A has two types of connection . One is Local Area Connection and also Internet Connection .
Now if i want to measure how much Lan_A get Internet speed , (i just want to measure Internet Speed only)
then can MRTG help me to measure the Internet Speed (only), How much the Lan_A gets ?
Or for this type of problem Is there any tools so that i can measure internet traffic or local lan traffic separately of a particular network or IP ?
thx.........
