I want to subscribe to a static IP with my ISP to be able to run FTP and VNC from home. With one static IP adress, how can I (if possible) manage that one static IP in a way that it covers both FTP and VNC ? Forward at different ports ? Ill use dyndns by the way.
My reason for asking is that it gets more expensive if I have to subscribe to 2 static IP addresses..
Typically, you would need to set the Router to use the static IP Address, and set port forwarding on the Router.
Amendment:
You could configure the PC to use the static IP Address, bypassing the Router, but I don't see that you would get much of a performance gain. If you have multiple machines accessing the internet, they would need to use your machine as a gateway.
