Mandrakw 9 - BTOpenWorld - please help

Hi,

I have just installed latest Mandrake 9 on my system.

I also have alcatel speedtouch USB ADSL modem from BTOpenWorld. This is the light green one that connects directly to the USB port of the PC and on Win98 & W2K uses the dial-up to connect. Doe's this mean it is using PPPoA???

I noticed on bootup and looking at log files that the USB driver is installed and speedmgt module detects and initialises the adsl unit as 512K down stream and 256 up stream.

I used mandrake control centre (mcc) to configure the ADSL speedtouch USB device, however, unfortunately it fails to connect. I have looked all HOW-To's etc, but no real step by step guide - on getting this to work. Micro code is loaded at /usr/share/speedtouch/mgmt.o

I started pppd manually however fails. Given the pppd is the key, I assume this is likely to be the problem. I have check /etc/ppp directory all files look OK.

Please help

Thanks I found the solution, there seems to slight issue with one of the pppd config file in Mandrake 9.

The file /etc/ppp/peers/adsl had an entry

pty "/usr/bin/pppoa3 -vpi 0 - vci 38

it shoud have read

pty "/usr/sbin/pppoa3 -vpi 0 - vci 38
