My system is an Asus motherboard a7n266 AMD Athlon XP 1900, 1 gig of ram, 120 gig harddrive, partitioned 5 ways, 3 windows ntfs, 2 linux, Netgear FA311 ethernet card, GeForce3 video card, Sound Blaster Live audio. I have 2 Windows XP operating systems and my Mandrake Linux 9.1 on it. Both Windows work fine with networking but still having issues with Linux networking, have had no other major problems so far that the installed how-to's weren't unable to help me with ...... but this network thing is frustrating .... and it seems like a lot of others are having similar problems.

nice setup!

I think in my case it is the fact that the base unit is not like your traditional unit, it is all on board, no pci slots or isa its a hp e-pc40 and I think its maybe not fully covered within linux yet or one of the components or something like that!

anyway I am now installing linux on one of my desktops which I didnt want to do yet, as I was using the hp box to learn it!

but onwards and upwards and to be fair I have learnt a lot over the past 4 days due to the fact it wasnt working!?!?!?!?!!!!

when things break you have to learn, if i hadnt broke things in the past i wouldnt know what i know now

The only thing i can think of next is that the firewall on XP is running? can you check and make sure its disabled? can you ping from the xp box? also you could try setting/running a webserver on linux/windows and see if you can browse that.

I can't really see it being the xp firewall but who knows
