Mandrake 10 (server) to Windows XP (client) networking (how to).
My problem is the following:
I have a linux server connected to the internet (cable modem @ ~100kbps) I have two pc's on Win Xp professional. I have searched the net (google) for a walkthrough on how to set up the network, but I didn't find anything concludent. So I'll include the info's that someone might need to help me: Network description: One server (2 ethernet adapter cards, one for the internet connection and another one for giving internet to the network) One switch Two clients Server ip configs: internet: ip 62.231.96.196 mask: 255.255.255.248 gateway: 62.231.96.193 dns: 62.231.96.2 alt dns: 62.231.96.4 network: ip 192.168.3.1 mask: 255.255.255.0 Now, the questions is: what programs (modules) must I use to get the linux server to see the windows clients? And how can I make the windows clients connect to the internet through the linux server? If you know a page that gives a walkthrough for this, please tell me. |
do a google search for NAT and iptables. There is lots of information. what linux distribution are you using?
