mandrake 10, homePNA and proxy?

Hey,
I installed Mandrake 10 distro and everything went fine except from web browsing. I have a homePNA in PCI (and also a regular ethernet card but it cannot be used due to my connection provider's choice).
Mandrake actually quite nicely found homePNA card but it seems like there's some problem with the proxy server. Also when starting up there's an error message that says "eth1" (homePNA) not connected. When up, the system tells me eth1 is fine though.
I hope I managed to deliver the right picture of my situation. All help highly appreciated... in order to avoid XP.
