making an FTP server and need help

Hey
I am trying to make an FTP server out of an old linux box. That computer is behind a modem, a hub, then an Asante router. Someone told me to ask about port forwarding...
I am a complete noob please remember that...

Hi,

basically you just have to forward the receiving ports from your router/modem to port 21 on your linux box's IP address -- so open your router's ip address in a web browser (usually like 192.168.1.1) and there should be a webpage that comes up. under the section for port forwarding select port 21 and then place the ip address of you linux box on your local network.

Also you will need to install and run an FTP server on your linux box -

Hope that helps

Tommy
