mails not reached to mailbox while maillog status shows sent

hi

I have linux 7.2 server and sendmail running on that. some of the internal users ( users inside company's domain) send mails among them. all the mailboxes reside in the same server. While maillog showing the status sent , users are complaining they are not able to receive the mails. Moreover sender didnot receive any mailer-daemon notice.

Please suggest...

how long has it been? i use a simple default sendmail config, and the mailer-daemon notice takes 4 days to show up, because that's the duration of time sendmail will continue trying to send.
