This is not a trivial question. There are a number of components to a mail server: typically a mail transfer agent (MTA), the mail client (eg Outlook) and various other parts such as mail delivery agents. It all gets a bit confused because there aren't always clear boundaries between the components.
Assuming RHEL3 is similar to Fedora/CentOS, the most likely options for the MTA are sendmail and postfix. In short, these take mail delivered to the system (typically on port 25) from either other server on the network or the internet, or from mail clients like Outlook; then they deliver the mail to mail delivery agents (MDAs) or deliver the mail directly into mailboxes.
However, Outlook can't see mail in *nix mailboxes directly. To do this we use an IMAP or POP server that Outlook can query.
If you use POP, clients like Outlook usually download messages from the server and the server deletes them, whereas with IMAP the messages stay on the server. Examples here include Courier-IMAP and Dovecot.
What you really need to do is look for some howtos on the net. I use postfix myself (with Dovecot) and you'll find an number of howtos on postfix.org. The parts you choose are a matter of preference, but by all accounts, postfix is easier to configure than sendmail.
All the MTA`s available on linux are supported on all type of web browsers and pop3 clients,so you can use anyone of those MTA`s like:-
would you please guide me how to setup easly which i need.
please help me
Have a look at
or do some googling, but please don't expect a forum like this to do the absolute basics for you. There are hundreds if not thousands of howtos on the web for linux mail servers - have a look for them.
