machine has adsl ethernet modem, to make it gateway over lan do i need more lan cards

Hello all,
my desktop is connected to internet with ADSL ethernet modem.
now i would like to bring my laptop to net through my desktop as gateway.
i've only one lan card on my desktop..........which is engaged with modem.
so in order to connect the laptop to it, i think i have to attach one more lan card on my desktop.
am i right ??
or is there any other way of escaping buying a new lan card ???

regards

Using two NICs in the gateway is the normal way to do it, but if you have a hub or switch you could do one-NIC-NAT using aliases. See http://www.linuxjournal.com/article/7175

hello,
i don't have any hub or switch.....
that means buying one more lan card is the only solution.
ok, i'll buy it.

regards
