lots of errors after changing hostname

upon booting and shutting down, the screen displays errors about my hostname that I recently changed. I changed it in /etc/hosts and /etc/sysconfig/network. Everything seems to work fine, except I just get a lot of errors and it is very annoying. It says something like /etc/rc.d/rc5.d/S11portmap: error on line 2 :bigcletus. Anyway of fixing this? I am using mdk 9.1 if it makes a difference. Thanks for any help.

/etc/hosts? this isn't very usefull. Change it in /etc/hostname or /etc/HOSTNAME instead.

I don't have a /etc/hostname or /etc/HOSTNAME. The hostname command does echo my hostname however. Anyother ways to fix the errors?
