Question Losing internet connection Slack 10 Kernel 2.6.7 tulip driver

At random times my internet seems to go down. My first problem was i had the tulip drivers configured as modules in the kernel but i've since compiled straight into the kernel. Now my connection stays up much longer but still dies sometimes. I just figured out what seems to be causing it but i have no idea how to fix it. When the connection dies this messege shows up in /var/log/messeges

GConf server is not in use, shutting down. Exiting

I can get the connection back up by using the gconftool-2 --spawn command.

I'm running KDE 3.2.3 and from what i understand gconf is some kind of Gnome tool.

Anyone got any ideas ??
