looking for a comprehensive DNS and bind tutorial
Hi everyone....
I am trying to learn setting up a DNS server using bind 9. However, I havent found any tutorial that covers DNS concepts quite deeply and explains setting up bind the easy way...
I am still confused about the difference between terms such as Domain, Sub-Domain, Namespace and Zone...
Can anyone point me to any decent DNS and bind tutorial?...( I have studied the Red Hat 9 site, and its not too explanatory)...I wont mind even if the tutorial is difficult to understand, but it should be comprehensive...
Regards,
amit

The Linux Documentation Project is a very good source. I personally havent had a good look at the tutorials on DNS/BIND yet, but it should be sufficient.
Either:
http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/HOWTO-INDE...ng.html#NETDNS
or
Go to http://www.tldp.org/ and search for BIND 9

If you are looking for good DNS solution my advice is to use djbdns rather than bind. Bind still have a vulnerabilities. And is really complicated.
