What distro are you using? If its got PAM then this might be part of your problem (I've managed to void PAM so far so its just a guess)

cheers

Jamie is asking which distribution are you using? Mandrake? RedHat? Suse? Give some details!

Hawama Jabeen 07-29-2001 10:38 PM

I am using RedHat Linux 6.1... I checked out the inetd.conf file also... still when i connect to telnet from remote...connection timedout.. but sometime it connects and asks for login and passwd. I enter it..but after few minutes..it again gives connection to host lost.

pls give solution. thanks in advance

Hi,
It seems that you have not added your ip address in the Linux server, so you are getting the timeout, as well as I hope you are getting the logging prompt also after a long delay--- right ?

go to the Linux server and login by root

run the "netconf" command

then you will get so many option like shown below :

ÚÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ Network configurator ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ¿

select Information about other hosts and add your client m/c ip address from where you wanted to access Linux server from client.

It will solve you problem, if not then feel free to contact me any time.
