local network browsing

I'm playing with Suse 9.0 live and can't seem to figure out how to do lan browsing. my other linux boxes have MDK9.1 and they work very well with linneighborhood, but can't find simular way of connectivity with this OS. I'm sure it is some where, i just can't find it. in fact I'nm using the suse live at this time

i have never used suse before, but couldn't you just download linneighborhood, or xSMBrowser, or something similiar?

How are the mdk boxes sharing resources? nfs, samba, coda?

To start with thanks to both of you who responded.
I had not thought about DL a lan browser, but will ponder that.
I don't have access to my Linux boxes\, I browse my Win boxes, I've got Linux in 24 hours but it's more like 24 weeks as much as I work at it. And some other Linux books. I thought I was over looking something in the menu. I'm trying the suse because MDK9.1 won't work on the system I've got in my garage, the bootloader won't work HD installed floppy, so going with the dozen of so distros even knoppix gave problems but so far the suse work nearly flawlessly. and the network acess is just icing. But If any one has an other idea about lan access wiht this OS, I'm reading.
