Lisa Deamon
Hello,
Using a Konqueror window under Red Hat Enterprise 3 (WS) to access a remote server through an IP address I got a Pop-Up message such as: ----- Error Konqueror The lisa deamon does not appear to be running. In order to see the LAN Browser, the Lisa Deamon must be installed and activated by the system administrator. ----- Any ideas how I can install/activate the lisa deamon on my Red Hat box ? How can I check if it is there in the first place ? PT |
go to the shell/terminal and type lisa. That should be all you need to activate it if its installed.

lisa
Hello again,
I typed lisa: This is the LAN Information Server LISa 0.2.3 It is free software according the GNU General Public License Copyright (c) 2000-2003 by Alexander Neundorf emain: neundorf@kde.org running on port 7741 Have fun ! :-) ------- PT |
Same error
Hello again,
After typing http://192.9.200.11 in the Konqueror window, I still get the following error message: ----- An error occured while loading http://192.9.200.11: Could not connect to host 192.9.200.11 PT |
So now you have the lisa daemon running. Go to the browser and type either lan:/192.9.200.11 or lan://192.9.200.1, instead of the HTTP. That should be able to give you access.

Hello,
I upgraded my server to Linux Enterprise 3 (ES) When I type lisa, I get: bash: lisa: command not found What now ? PT PS: typing: lan:/192.9.200.11 I get not a: lan://192.9.200.11" is not a valid location. Please check the spelling and try again. What now ? |

That came up because you no longer have the lisa daemon installed for some reason. I dont know why it isn't there after the upgrade. Look for the daemon and reinstall it. It should work after that. |
