Linux to Windows XP network
Hello
I have a linux and window xp computers connected to the router. This is a home network and Linux box is Fedora. Also it uses DHCP. I am able to connect to internet through the router either from Linux and Windows. The Linux box doesn't have a hostanme (just localhost) and gets its IP from the DHCP. I would like to connect this Linux box to Windows network which is already configured as Homenet (Workgroup). Among windows machine ( I have 3 connected ), the connection is ok... However the Linux box is not able to connect (tested with ping) to the network. Is there anybody can help to let me know how to connect them together?? I would really appreciate your help... |
are all your computers on the same subnet?
click me to read about subnet stuff to do file/print sharing with any windows/linux home network, use samba! click me to check out the samba website good luck and i hope this helps. |
Yes, I plan to share files/print on the network.. I haven't checked what you suggested, but I will. Then if this works, that is great, otherwise I will post next questions.
