Linux Routing to Multi-Homed Host
A Bit of trouble here. We have what would technically callled a
"buttload" of servers here, and have been adding a bunch of RH9 boxes as well. The troubling behavior is this: When you use a traceroute from a Sun to any multi-homed host (one with multiple IFs on two differing subnets), the Sun is smart enough to "know" that it is best to use the IF on the subnet it SHARES with the traceroute box. This results in less router traffic, of course. Lately, we have been seeing lots of router traffic, and our network clowns have informed us that a majority of it, is the Linux boxes, which now seem to have an odd tendency to want to default to an IF on SOME OTHER subnet than their own. Is there a configuration issue with BIND or routing that we could tell these Linux boxes in essence, "Hey guys, be smart...like them Suns." |
