Linux Redhat 9 pinging problem adsl

i have strange problem with Linux Redhat9
i have Samsung AHT 300 modem connected to eth0
>ifup ppp0
>./adsl-status

i have successful connection to ISP ang get IP address from DHCP
server.
my modem address 10.0.0.2 i set routing table 10.0.0.2 as
default gateway

but i cannot ping to anybody or connect to any server outside

Unless your modem also acts as a router (which I doubt it does) it should not be your default gateway. Usually the gw is sent as part of the DHCP information or you get a fixed IP from your ISP.
