Linux proxy/streaming server for wmv-files

Hi !

I have the following problem:
We have a video mixer (hardware), which produces wmv-feeds and wmv-files.
Usually it can stream directly to a Windows Media Server - but we do not have any windows machine here.
There will be an event of our firefighters, where they want to stream video live to the internet as well as use those video for on-demand viewing.
We have a root-server at our providers location (which is approx. 30 km from the eventīs location) and a 1 Mbit connection to the internet.
The aim is to stream directly to the root-server, which should act as a proxy for live-streaming and to use the stream also for on-demand-viewing from this server within 30 days or so after the event...

Does anyone know a solution for this ?

Thanks in advance !

Otto

PS: I am not sure - I hope, this is the right forum for the question...
