linux networking question
 
i have a linux box i just built i put a net gear nic card in it now im trying to get it to talk to my windows box it is running 98se the linux version is redhat 7.2 some one please help I am a newbie with linux

what are you trying to do? there's loads of different types of 'talking' that people ask about. are you trying to just get a ping, or do you expect to be able to use network neighboorhood?

check the networking-HOWTO as well. it'll tell you all you need to know

You will need a hub and two standard network cables.. or a crossover cable to connect the systems directly.

Do you know how to configure them to speak over TCP/IP once you have a physical connection?
