Would i need 2 network card in the same pc if i want to use internet shareing from one linux box to the other linux box?I was read up on firestarter and they say i would need 2 network cards to use nat.
having two NIC's is reliable. theoritically you can use one NIC to define multiple interefaces (eth0:0 ; eth0:1 etc) but this is not reliable. NIC are vdry cheap these days right, so go ahead and buy one
In fact you do not need 2 eths. But it is usual practice. Netfilter allows you to configure routing (internet sharing) and firewall as well. But firewalling is impossible without physical separation of the "world" from LAN computers. But routing is possible so you can do that.
Anyway my advice is to use 2 NICs.
Well, so I do not understand the subject of your post. You have modem (first NIC). Since there is no way to use it for second local computer connection you need second NIC anyway.
