Linux Graphic Terminals?


Is there a way to allow a remote connection to a linux box run the gui w/o having linux installed? for example a windows box has only windows installed, a redhat 9 box fresh install. I wanna be able to connect to the linux box through windows and connect to a linux graphic screen as if i was on the linux box. sorta like windows criyx?? i think thats what it is. thanks

vnc is a good program for that

It's free, and is probably already installed on your system.

consider securing it with ssh

TightVnc is probably the best way to go but if you find that it is too slow then you can boot your windows PC into a linux environment using the Linux Terminal Server Project:

Not in a production environment - it worked fine in testing at home - but it is a project I would like to try at work if I ever get time to do it.

Ltsp works great. I have used the a version from www.k12ltsp.org, it is set up for schools but it really works good. It would work in any enviroment. Install and it works very little setup.
