I used the command below to give a regular readout of my wifi signal strength:

Code:
watch -n 1 "awk 'NR==3 {print \"WiFi Signal Strength = \" \$3 \"00 %\"}''' /proc/net/wireless"
The wifi signal stays at 100% (see attached screenshot).

I know it sounds obvious, but you may need to adjust the position of your router's wifi aerial to give the optimum signal.

i highlited the line you said to replace and deleted and then pasted in {USB_DEVICE(0x2001, 0x3311)}, /* DLink GO-USB-N150 REV B1 */
and then saved.

Just use Save.

In some cases it asks whether you wish to replace the original file. In which case you click on "Replace".

As long as you change the file and include the new line you will be okay.

That should do the trick.

Have you tried fiddling with the wifi aerial?

My signal was 83% initially until I remembered that I had not positioned the aerial correctly.

gj1950,

There seems to be quite a lot of Sky customers complaining about poor wifi reception on their hubs.

Here are two:

http://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Unlimite...nce/td-p/31969

http://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Fibre-br...b/td-p/1755223

If you were getting 100% consistently on W7, then I fully understand why you would want to return to using it.

For what it's worth I use a Netgear DG 834G router.

I realise that it is probably totally impractical in your case, but a long ethernet cable is always a possible solution.

All the best,
beachboy2

i installed windows 7 and i am getting a better signal, the only thing is the other usb stick i sent back had under activity a thing like wireless manager which showed me that i had 100 % connection, but the D-Link Wireless-N 150 Easy USB Adaptor does not have this,if i hover over my network name it says signal excellent but does not show me if it is 100%
thank you very much for all your help and maybe one day there will be a usb connector built for Linux and i can come back.
