Linux connecting to the internet via win xp

Hi can anyone help?

I have a 2 machine network, one is a pue winxp machine which has a connection to the internet (dial up), the other is a dual boot winxp/SuSE 9.1 machine.

I've set up the win xp part of the dual boot machine with no problems. It can see the shares on the first machine and access the dial up connection. Unfortunately the linux machine (other it can see the shares on the other machine using samba) cannot see the dial up connection.

What am I missing? Which files do people need to see to help me?

Please help I am desperate to access the internet from both machines as I intend to go to broadband soon with a similar setup. I don't want to use the dual boot machine because it's dual boot and would take at least 2 set ups.

Thanks

Bring up YaST on your dual boot machine (in SuSE Linux). Select Network devices->Network card.

If you haven't, give your computer a host name. Select the card at the bottom and go through the setup. You will want to select 'Routing' and enter the LAN IP address of the XP computer that has the modem as the 'gateway address'. This is where the computer will send traffic destined for the internet. You also need to go through the 'Share internet connection' set up on the XP computer.

For network sharing, you will need to install and setup Samba. There is also a couple of Dialogs in Yast for that.

Thanx for the quick reply.
I have put the winxp ip address in the default gateway (192.168.0.1) and have enabled the win xp machine to share its internet connection (as I mentioned the dual boot machine can see the connection when in windows) but still cannot access the internet via the winxp machine.

Just on the off chance I made sure the connection was there by using ping ... no probs.

What next?

so u have ran the ics wizard in xp and u have the correct ip addy 192.168.0.1 in the linux machine in the network configuration u will want to add this ip address as both dns server and gateway with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 Ur host addy for linux will be 192.168.0.2
in /etc/resolv.conf using a text editor in a terminal window u will need to add the following
nameserver 192.168.0.1
Check that any firewall u r using on xp is configured to allow the host (linux) 192.168.0.2
