Linux cannot detect ethernet card properly
Hi there
my name is vivek
I am new to this forum
i have a problem with my RHEL version 4
i installed it yesterday
when it boots it detects no problem with any hardware
when i go to the terminal
and type ifconfig ; it only shows the loopback interface
and when i type ifconfig eth0 it tells that no such device
but when i type service network restart
it shows bringing up eth0 and ok message
when i try to browse i get a network unreachable
which means the lan card is down
what's wrong??why it isnt detecting the lan card
plz help me out here
