Linux and NetFlow
I am trying to setup a test of Netflow for a school project. I'm using VMWare, and was going to set up a few virtual machines and a virtual router.(I was given advice to use GNS 3 for a virtual router software)
My plan is as follows:
1. Set up a virtual machine and install GNS and have this machine act as router.
2. Set up a virtual machine to act as the Netflow analyzer machine using Flowtools.
3. Set up two other virtual machines to act as host machines to communicate so I can record Netflow data.
Will this setup yield actual results for me? I am most familiar with CentOS so that is the distro I am going to use. Also, will I have a problem with this if I have to use host-only networking? They want me to use that so I don't accidently hose any of the current network. Thanks for the help!
