After having installed LinPopup (from the RPMs), and made the necessary modification to smb.conf, I still cannot recieve messages which are sent to it. I have no difficulty in sending messages. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem might be?
I have problems with it too. I can't even send messages trough linpopup. i can do it with
smbclient -M host
but nothing with linpopup. I made the configurations in smb.conf, the program sees the ip, broadcast, nmask addresses.
well, don't ask why, but now i can send messages. I still can't receive any, but i least can send it. Still, i want to send a message to all computers on the network, i can't (in win you can do this by typing "net send * message".
So, any ideas? Please some help. I'm in a network and i miss all the fun when i'm in linux.
Hi, it's me again. After some reeding i realized why sudenly i can send messages with linpopup: i restarted the computer ( it's easyer to restart the smb service ). And after turning off the firewall (in my case the "iptables" service) i thought that my problems are over, since on the windows machine it said that "the message was succesfuly delivered". But... no messsge on my linux machine.
