Linksys WPC11 version 4

As the topic says, I have a WPC11 version 4 wireless network pcmcia card for my laptop. I have an older Compaq Armada 1750 laptop, with SuSE 8.1 running, very well with KDE.
I tried compiling the wlan_ng sources that are included with my SuSE distrobution, but am having problems with the install. During configuration, it gives me the error message that my Linux Kernel tree is missing, that I only have the header files.
Now, as I understand it, it is possible to get the card working without using the wlan_ng drivers, but it thus makes wireless packet sniffing impossible, which makes that option out-of-the-question.

So my question is, what the hell should I do???

The problem with the WPC11 V4 is that it's a completely
different card from the prior versions, so all the existing
advice (installing wlan-ng, etc) out there doesn't apply.

There's an ongoing thread on this forum on this
topic, including details on where to get the correct
driver. Search for "WPC11 V4" to find the thread.
