I was using the Linksys WPC11 with the Linksys WAP11 on my notebook running RH 7.2. I read that Linksys just came out with version 2.5 of the WPC11 PCMCIA card, so I exchanged it. Now all I did was take the old card out, and put the new one in, and it isn't working. I looked up WPC11 on the internet, and tried the different procedures. I am about to reinstall everything and hope RH can detect it at installation. I know it is using the Prism Drivers, and tried installing the files from the wlan-ng project. Still nothing. I am hoping someone here has had some experience, and got it working.

Here's all i did, incase it helps any dudes or dudettes out there.....
I more or less assumed the orinoco_cs was the way to fly with this
pc-card, so i d/l'd the hermes.conf file and put it into the
/etc/pcmcia dir.
Running iwconfig would give me zippo, so i did a 'cardctl ident'
and it give me a manfid: 0x0274, 0x1612........i looked in the hermes
file and there wasn't a matching entry so i created one for this
Linksys card in the same format, and just added these lines to the
hermes.conf file............
"Linksys WPC11 v2.5" (arbitrary title i think)
manfid: 0x0274, 0x1612
bind "orinoco_cs"
Then i did a modprobe orinoco (or was it an insmod, can't remeber my
commands).
I didn't touch any of the other files at all, they are stock from the
Mandrake 8.2 install...........the config.opts and wireless.opts i did
not edit at all.
Now i reboot, i get Linksys PCMCIA WPC11 v2.5 detection with 2 beeps
as before, but now i have 'module orinico' loaded followed by another
beep and 'starting eth1'.............woohoo!
Now i run iwconfig and i get all kinds of paramters describing my
802.11b card. Next i ifdown eth0, not using the mini-pci now.
Just to test, i ifdown/ifup eth1, all ok, pc-card indicator lights
responding as normal., ethernet status dockapp responds correct.
Pull/insert card and i now get 'bip-bip' where before i got
'bip-bonk'...bonk bad, hehehe!
Connectivity and performance seem awesome, on par with what i get in Win XP from what i can tell. So if anyone is thinking of running this
Linksys WAP/router/switch and v2.5 PCcard with i8100 and Mandrake 8.2
go for it!
