Heres my setup: DSL Modem plugs into Router, My windows pc is downstairs, and My linux box upstairs. Recently, windows wont connect to the internet, ever since I networked my new box with my windows machine. I always had the TCP/IP settings to obtain an IP address automatically on windows, but I can never get a connection with my LAN. Its buggin the bajeezers outa me, of course, Linux is getting my broadband connection without an issue. I use SBC Yahoo DSL. Do I have to assign addresses to each machine? How do I go about doin this if I Have too? Also, its a dynamic IP connection. Thanks!

Smart router ... just kidding

Have you ensured the patch cable is good and that the switch port is not faulty ... looking from the hardware angle. Sometimes we keep doubting the software while it is the hardware that is causing the problem.

Try swapping the ports / cables.

Fixed it

Had to point The DNS to my router's IP address.
