Limiting download speed on a network

I have a linux debian on a network connected to a router through a ethernet cord. My linux is hogging the network speed and the users of the other computers on the network aren't very happy. Is there a way to limit the download speed on only my computer?

Hello,

There are several ways you can limit the download speed on your computer. Have a look at CBQ.init traffic management script over at SourceForge.net. You can also use the tc command in Linux. Have a look at the man page.
Code:

man tc
Kind regards,

Eric
