Question LImiting bandwidth per-host...with a NAT router

I live in a student house: 5 of us on a 1Mbps line gets a bit crowded at times. We've already got a decent router setup going with the Wondershaper on there, but this wasn't enough. People do like to use filesharing apps that open up 3 million TCP connections per segment of file, so this wasn't working too well. Therefore, today I started working on a set of tc rules that would share out the upstream fairly between the 6 hosts (5 users, one server that would like a bit of the pie) and do all the funky wondershaper stuff within the individual host definitions. And here it is.

Well, it runs with no errors, and everythong seemed ok. Until I realised one simple but fatal thing: if I run it on the external interface (eth0), the IP addresses will have been masqueraded already, so the filters won't work. If i run it on the internal interface (eth1), it won't be upstream, it'll count as downstream.

If my thoughts are correct, is there any way I can fix it, and if I'm wrong, what's wrong with my script?

Thanks in anticipation...
