Light weight Routing

I have a Win98 box duel booted with RG8.0 running on IP 192.168.0.1 and I have a RH8.0 server on 192.168.0.2. I also have a dial up modem runing on the duel boot box. This can run from either windows or linux. What I would like to be able to do is see the internet from the server so that I can run Squid and fetchmail. In the default mode I am unable to ping the web from the server.

I think this is a routing problem but am not sure.

The firewalls are not active yet so this is not the problem

Any ideas please?

TRBentley,

I'm confused... You mention two boxes 192.168.0.1 & 192.168.0.2. Then you say about a (another?) dual boot box with a modem. Thats cool three boxes... Then you say "...see the internet from the server..." but which box is the server? I take it that its not the machine with the modem? Some more info please!

If you are trying to share a modem connection then you want to look at http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/IP-Masquer...WTO/index.html. If you are going to run Squid and fetchmail then I assume you are doing to do this on the machine with the modem anyway, is this correct or am I misunderstanding?

cheers

Jamie...

in RH you need to add masquerading to your ip tables
or use internet connection sharing in windoze and you should be able to access internet without problems
in RH8 type something like that
iptables -A POSTROUTING -t nat -o ppp0 -j MASQUERADE
good luck
