kppp connection to freeserve (slackware)

Hi,

I'm trying to connect to the (UK) ISP Freeserve using KPPP on Slackware 9.0.

I get 3 OKs then a line saying "connect 40000" and something about 'LAPM' protocol. Then there ensues a load of nonsense that looks to be a line repeated - it's ascii like }1:-$%^ (but not this exactly and there's more of it).

Looks like something basic I'm missing?

Cheers for any help

"'glyphics"

All those crazy characters is your ppp session. Your connection is up and alive communication wise, but kppp isn't detecting it. That's the explaination. As for the specifics of getting kppp to work, I'll leave that for someone else or to your own tinkering. I've had this problem long ago as well, it's just a matter of getting your ppp software to see it as a good connection.
