Unhappy Kernel upgrade and PPP source files?

I just upgraded my linux from 2.4.18 to 2.5.36 and everything except Internet works.
I looked around, recompiled the kernel etc. until I found the error: The only file in the /lib/modules/2.5.36/kernel/drivers/net was a dummy.o...

Well, copying all files from /lib/modules/2.4.18/kernel/drivers/net to the new location doesn't work.
(".../net/slhc.o: insmod net-pf-24 failed", "PPPoE socket: Adress family not supported by protocol")

I probably have to recompile something but I have no idea how and what

Thanks in advance

PS: A solution where I can use my old source files from 2.4.18 would be perfect as I can't download anything in the moment -_-

IIRC SuSe states clearly their modified ppoe stuff will only work on stable kernel 2.4x not on dev kernel 2.5x, so load your other kernel...

oh... mmmh...
The problem is that I can activate UDMA - transfer mode with 2.5 without any problems but I have no internet access while in 2.4 I can connect to the internet but cannot activate UDMA -_-

Well, I try to find some people who have similar problems / re-search the suse faq...

thanks for the hint
