Juniper VNC connection issue on Lubuntu 13.04 64 bit

Hi,

I've been trying to get this to work for days now, askubuntu.com and ubuntuforums are all out of ideas.

According to Junipers website a 64 bit client is not available, they've modified the existing 32-bit client so that it can be run on 64-bit platforms. I have been following the steps on the below two links:

http://askubuntu.com/questions/11194...-64-bit-ubuntu
http://www.juniper.net/techpubs/en_U...x-support.html

I did the following:

1. Fresh Install of Lubuntu 13.04 64 bit
2. Install 64 bit firefox
3. sudo apt-get install openjdk-7-jre icedtea-7-plugin
4. sudo apt-get install openjdk-7-jre:i386
5. sudo apt-get install ia32-libs
6. Log into my employers VPN webpage
7. Click on relevent connection -> Progress bar displayed
8. Window pops up asking me if I want to install the jar file -> I click yes
9. Terminal pops up asking me for root password which I enter

At this point I would expect the network connect icon to be displayed confirming I am connected to the VPN and am able to ping the machine I am trying to connect to.

Instead the progress bar does not complete and I am taken to a page with a start button, I click this and the progress bar continues then back to the start button and back to the progress bar etc. etc. until the progress bar finishes but nothing happens.

I am unable to ping the server I want to connect to.

Anybody have any ideas? I have not been able to connect to my work machine and if I don't resolve this soon it could mean installing windows!!!!!!
